History

Utah State University was founded in 1888 as the Agricultural College of Utah under the Morrill Land-Grant Act of 1862, establishing it as Utah’s federal land-grant institution. Located in Logan, Utah, the college opened to students in 1890 with a mission focused on agriculture, mechanical arts, and practical education. In 1928, the institution was renamed Utah State Agricultural College to reflect its expanding academic scope.
