History

Keiser University-Ft Lauderdale was founded in 1977 by Arthur Keiser and his mother, Evelyn Keiser, as a small career school in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Originally known as The Keiser School, the institution focused on preparing students for employment in Florida’s growing business and healthcare sectors. In 1982 it became the Keiser Institute of Technology as new programs were added, and in 1986 it began awarding associate degrees under the name Keiser College. The institution expanded into bachelor’s degree offerings in 2001 and adopted the name Keiser University in 2006 to reflect its broader academic scope. In 2011, Keiser University-Ft Lauderdale transitioned from a for-profit to a non-profit structure under Everglades College, Inc. Over time, it developed multiple campuses, online programs, and graduate degrees, evolving into a statewide and international university system.
