Four schools still answer to "Bethel" and only one is officially a college

Only the Kansas school is still legally named "Bethel College." The Indiana, Minnesota and Tennessee institutions all renamed themselves "Bethel University" (in 2019, 2004 and 2009 respectively), which is why older scholarship lists, transcripts and coach emails still say College while their websites say University.

That renaming history is the single biggest source of confusion on this search. If a document from 2010 says "Bethel College" and the school is in Tennessee, it is not a different institution and it is not a mistake. It is the same campus under its old name.

Bethel College in Russellville, Kentucky closed in 1964. Beth-El College of Nursing in Colorado was absorbed into the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. Bethel University in Zambia is a separate institution entirely, and Shorter College in Arkansas briefly carried a Bethel name. None of them accept applications under a "Bethel College" banner today. The one comparison table nobody on this results page has built

Across the four Bethels, published tuition and fees for 2026-27 span roughly $17,500 to $36,100, a gap of about $18,600 per year for schools sharing a name. Net prices compress that range considerably, to roughly $13,400 to $30,400, because all four discount heavily through institutional merit and need aid.

A few honest caveats about that table, because transparency here matters more than a tidy grid.

Enrollment counts are reliable only for Kansas (507 undergrads, fall 2024). For the other three, published counts vary wildly across aggregators depending on whether adult, online and graduate students are folded in. Pull the current IPEDS number yourself from NCES College Navigator before you quote anything.
