Texas Christian University

Texas Christian University is a private research university located in Fort Worth, Texas. Founded in 1873, it is affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and operates as an independent institution. TCU offers a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs across fields such as business, fine arts, education, nursing, and the liberal arts and sciences. The university enrolls students from across the United States and internationally, combining a residential campus environment with Division I athletics as a member of the Big 12 Conference. Students are often drawn to Texas Christian University for its mid-sized campus setting, emphasis on teaching and research, and its location in the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area.

Texas Christian University was founded in 1873 in Thorp Spring, Texas, by brothers Addison and Randolph Clark as Add-Ran Male and Female College. Addison Clark served as the first president. The institution was established to provide coeducational learning rooted in Christian values. In 1889, the school was affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and later renamed AddRan Christian University. In 1902, it adopted the name Texas Christian University. After a fire destroyed its Waco campus in 1910, the university relocated to Fort Worth in 1911, where it remains today. Over the twentieth century, Texas Christian University expanded its academic offerings, added graduate and professional programs, and developed research initiatives. By its 150th anniversary in 2023, Texas Christian University had grown into a comprehensive university serving students from across the United States and abroad.
