Oklahoma State University-Main Campus

Oklahoma State University-Main Campus is a public land-grant research university located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Established in 1890, it serves as the flagship institution of the Oklahoma State University System. Originally founded as Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College, the university has expanded into a comprehensive research institution offering undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees across a wide range of disciplines. Oklahoma State University-Main Campus was founded in 1890 as Oklahoma Agricultural and Mechanical College under the Morrill Act, which established land-grant institutions to advance education in agriculture and the mechanical arts. Early leadership, beginning with its first president Robert Barker, helped shape the institution’s academic foundation during the territorial period before Oklahoma achieved statehood in 1907. In 1957, the institution was renamed Oklahoma State University to reflect its broader mission.
