Adelphi University

Levermore became Adelphi’s first president and guided its early academic development. In 1929, Adelphi moved to Garden City, New York, where it expanded its campus and academic offerings. The institution was granted university status in 1963, reflecting growth in graduate and professional programs. During the late twentieth century, Adelphi University broadened its schools in areas such as nursing, social work, business, and education.
