University of Evansville

The University of Evansville is a private university located in Evansville, Indiana. The history of University of Evansville began in 1854 with the founding of Moores Hill Male and Female Collegiate Institute in southeastern Indiana. In 1919, the school relocated to Evansville, Indiana, and was renamed Evansville College, expanding its academic offerings and campus facilities. After World War II, enrollment grew significantly, and new academic buildings and residence halls were constructed to support the expanding student body. In 1967, Evansville College was officially renamed the University of Evansville, reflecting its broader mission and academic scope. During the late twentieth century, the University of Evansville strengthened its liberal arts foundation and expanded international opportunities, including the acquisition of Harlaxton College in England. Today, University of Evansville continues to operate as a private institution serving undergraduate and graduate students in Evansville.
