Herzing University-Atlanta is part of Herzing University, which was founded in 1965 by Henry and Suzanne Herzing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as a computer training institute. The institution expanded during the 1970s, adopting the name Herzing Institute and later Herzing College as it acquired additional schools. The Atlanta campus traces its roots to 1949, when it began as Massey Business College. In 1979, the Atlanta institution became part of the Herzing organization, integrating into its growing network of career-focused campuses. In 2009, following the introduction of graduate programs, the institution was renamed Herzing University to reflect its expanded academic scope. In 2015, Herzing University transitioned to nonprofit status.
