In 1939, the school was reestablished in Miami as the Embry-Riddle School of Aviation, providing pilot training during the buildup to World War II. The institution became a nonprofit in 1959 and relocated to Daytona Beach, Florida, in 1965, establishing the campus adjacent to the local airport. After expanding its academic programs, Embry-Riddle achieved university status in 1968 and adopted the name Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1970. Under the leadership of President Jack R.
